Day 4 of Bootsnall’s “Plan your RTP trip in 30 days” deals with estimating your budget for the trip and even offers a special spreadsheet to help you figure out exactly how much you will need, how much you have, and how long it will take you to make your goal amount. Definitely not a quick solution to today’s action step: coming up with your preliminary budget, but a necessary step in the planning process! The number I came up with to travel as long as I am planning and to go to all of the places I want to go is a big one. It’s terrifying to think of first, being able to save that much in the amount of time I want to be able to save it, and second, spending it all on something so fleeting (and some would say selfish and irresponsible) as traveling around the world. Even though I find it daunting, seeing that big number only strengthens my conviction that this is something I have to do. And I don’t think it is selfish or irresponsible…I think this trip will only make me a better human being, which will in turn profit the people I have relationships with.
