Yesterday, I found out that one of my best friends is going to meet me in Italy! We’d talked briefly of the possibility weeks ago, but I figured it was mostly dreaming and wishing, rather than a probable reality. Lindsey and I always have a blast when we’re together and I have no doubt this time will be no different. She is probably the most likely of my good friends to follow through…and I don’t mean that as a slight to anyone, it’s just the truth. Where others may wish it could be so, she finds a way to make it happen. It’s something I’ve always admired about her.
Anyway, getting back on track, Italy! Knowing that Lindsey will be along for at least part of that ride and also knowing her must-see’s makes planning the Italy portion of my trip much easier. I’m so excited that one of my friends is actually going to participate in this crazy adventure that I want to accommodate her anyway that I can. She wants to visit the Amalfi Coast, the island of Capri and Palermo. I would like to stop by Pompeii as well, since it is in the general area of the Amalfi Coast. It is convenient that all of the places she wants to visit are so near each other (with the exception of Palermo, but it looks like we can easily take a ferry from Naples).
Before I meet up with Linds, I’m going to do a little exploring of my own in northern Italy…Under the Tuscan Sun was one of my favorite movies in college and I’ve always wanted to float down a canal in Venice, so those are 2 definites (though I’m not sure where in Tuscany I should go…maybe Pisa?) I’ve also heard that I shouldn’t miss Milan or Rome so I’ll try to squeeze those in too.
And as for why the title of this post is mmmmm, pizza…beyond the obvious link of good pizza in Italy, Lindsey and I have both learned somewhat recently that we have food intolerances…her to gluten and I to dairy…so yea, just kind of ironic.
Are there any places to go/things to do/hostels to stay in that yall reading this recommend?
